An Orlando, Florida, resident was arrested on Tuesday and has been charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty and Violation of Probation, according to a report today from WFTV. Hector Manuel Febus-Ojeda was picked up in Manatee County after Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies received a tip that lead to a location on Boggy Creek Road in Kissimmee, Florida. In early May, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) had given Osceola deputies information regarding alleged animal abuse of horses on the Kissimmee property.
Deputies launched an investigation and spoke with the Kissimmee property owner, who stated he had been housing five horses belonging to Ojeda, for approximately four months. Inspection of the five horses by a local veterinarian verified that one of the horses had trouble lifting its leg due to large open sores, which were causing the animal a great deal of pain and distress. The veterinarian stated that the wounds were due to neglect and could have been avoided with proper care. Osceola Animal Control has taken charge of all five horses owned by Ojeda.
The 40-year-old Ojeda received a bond of $10,000 for the Aggravated Animal Cruelty and Probation Violation charges. After further investigation, deputies determined Ojeda was already on probation for Grand Theft. He had also been prohibited him from owning or having contact with any animals. Another condition of his probation was that he was not allowed to leave his residence in Orange County without permission; traveling to Osceola and Manatee Counties violated that probation order.
His arrest record goes further back in time. In 2015, he was one of two men arrested for stealing Shorty and Bentley, two horses used by the Osceola Sheriff’s office. The animals were located and returned to their owners. In 2011, he was one of 60 people arrested in Polk County in a sex sting. At that time, he was charged with one count of soliciting prostitution. According to deputies and an undercover detective, Ojeda negotiated a sex act for $300, after posting an ad on backpage.com in a section that specializes in transsexual escorts. According to a report by Polk officials, upon arriving at the scene where the transaction was to occur, the Orlando man revealed his breast implants to the undercover detective and was arrested.
A report in 2015 indicated that Ojeda, who also goes by the name of “Tiffany”, claimed on a video in his YouTube account that the horses were used to help autistic children improve their self-esteem. Those horses in the video were determined to be stolen, and they were also found to be in a malnourished state.
