A Wisconsin couple is giving full credit to Levi, their 15-year-old, three-legged pitbull, for saving their lives during a dangerous home invasion. KTRK reported today that Darcy Cherry and her boyfriend, Bob Stenzel, were in their home in Janesville, Wisconsin, when an armed robber broke in. He pointed a gun at the couple and made them get on the ground, then started demanding money.
The minute the robber burst in, Levi began to growl and bark. After threatening the couple, the assailant shot Levi in the head, and then ran off without taking anything. The bullet lodged in the dog’s left shoulder after grazing the brave pittie’s head.
Levi is currently on medication for his injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery. In the meantime, he will receive lots of loving and extra treats. This isn’t Levi’s first brush with heroism; he’s been this family’s superhero for a long time. He first survived a dognapping attempt. Then in 2014, he shattered his leg during a fall he took while protecting Ms. Cherry’s son from falling off a cliff. That accident took Levi’s leg, but left their family intact.
Said Stenzel, “It’s a feeling you can’t really express in words. I mean thank God he was here.” Willing to give his life for his family. That’s why we love dogs.
